This is what can happen when I have too many stamp & die sets out at the same time. I have been getting ready for my September workshops, so of course I have a couple of Halloween bundles out. I’ve recently received the hot foil bundle Echoes of Detail, which includes a stamp set with AMAZING textures. And of course I am already at work on designing Christmas cards, so Welcome Noel is sitting on the desk too.
I suddenly looked at the little house dies in Welcome Noel and thought, “What if they are haunted houses?” Then I looked at the stamps in Echoes of Details and realized I could make the houses look more rundown by stamping some Basic Gray cardstock in black ink before die cutting the houses. Then I added a matching layer of Lemon Lolly cardstock to make the windows appear to glow. Naturally, I had to add a few sets of spooky eyes peering out!
I used the tree and bat dies from Oh My Fright to finish the scene on the front of the card, all mounted on a piece of paper from the Frightfully Fun designer series paper. For the inside, I created a creepy dripping image using another stamp from Echoes of Detail randomly repeated. Then I die cut the “Halloween night” words from the Web of Fun die set. I roughed up the edges of the white panel with a craft knife edge using the Take Your Pick Tool, and finally added a little spider web in the corner from Oh My Fright.
So a couple of Halloween sets, one hot foil bundle and one Christmas bundle all came together and I love how it turned out! What do you think? I’m going to keep looking for ways to use my bundles in out-of-the-box ways, and I encourage you to do the same! Finding new ways to use your stamps is a great way to make the most of your investment!
